When life hands you mangos, eat them.

Remember all those plans I had for the weekend? FAIL. Well, not really. All the plans I had fell through, to make way for an unexpected awesome weekend. Friday came quick (as it always does), and I guess I made the best of it. I was supposed to spend the night at my cousins house, so that the next day I would babysit Charlie. Well they didn’t need me after all. While I was disappointed, everything ended up falling into place. On Friday I was exhausted after I left work and ended up going to bed at 7:30 pm. Yep. I woke up at around 9:30ish pm, and just went back to sleep. It was actually a much needed rest.

On Saturday I got a message from my best friend that her niece was in town, and wanted to see me. I hadn’t seen her in over a year, and I was long over due to see my best friend as well. The weather in Chicago was amazing. It felt like a summer day. Also on Saturday I was supposed to go to a bachelorette party. But ended up not going, because I would not be able to spend time with my family/friends. I actually really needed this time with them. And I consider my best friend and her husband my family. We ended up going shopping for food, and made the best of the day by heading out to humboldt park.

The weather was perfect to just sit outside in the sun or shade. We brought a few yard games and played for awhile. Ate some food, and the girls (me, bff, and niece) went exploring. If you aren’t familiar with Chicago, Humboldt Park is located in little Puerto Rico. I call it that because of the huge statue like Puerto Rican flags that welcome you into the neighborhood. Now, it seems like everyone is moving into Humboldt Park. There is definitely a melting pot of cultures, while at the same time the neighborhood maintains its roots in the Puerto Rican culture. You can find atleast 3 or 4 awesome Puerto Rican restaurants, mom and pop grocery stores, and tons of Chicago History. That day we were there, there was a band set up playing some salsa music. Not to mention Humboldt Park is  HUGE. It’s in the top 10 biggest parks in Chicago.

We ended up taking a walk to the boat house and into a little nature walk. The sun was setting, and I had my polaroid camera handy.

Sunday was another relaxing day at the park. After church, my friend Diana and I headed out to the park (Horner Park) and enjoyed the rest of the weekend weather we were blessed with. Ofcourse I had my polaroid camera in hand. Here are a couple of shots that I took.

So while, my plans didn’t work out, I believe God had something more awesome in store for me. And I went with the flow of things. There were thunderstorm on Sunday night that left us a beautiful rainbow. It’s a little hard to tell in the picture below, but I like how the photo turned out none the less. I haven’t used my digital camera in awhile, and I am totally ok with that. I hope you guys are having an awesome week.

Is it almost Friday?

Almost? I hope one day I can look forward to each day. Today is not that day. I have an actual “9-5 job” and really can’t complain about it. But it’s not my dream job. None the less, considering everything that’s going on with the economy, I am blessed to be working at all. I graduated from Roosevelt High School, and went to college for a minute. Dropped out of college, and started working at the hospital gift shop. I just stayed and moved around to different departments. I’ve been working there for almost 10 years now. Insane. I know. I have met so many awesome people, and friends through that job. A lot of people know me by face, and remember when I worked at the information desk. I guess I sort of grew up there.

When I started working at the gift shop I was almost 19 years old. And when I moved to the next department, I was about 20 or 21 years old. I spent all of my 20’s there. Speaking of which, I have one more year left of my 20s. Yikes. I am oddly looking forward to my 30’s and see what God has in store for me. Who knows where I will be. I am open to whatever, or wherever God wants to take me. For now I am just taking it one day at a time.

So, back to Fridays. This Friday I am getting to spend some time with one of my favorite little people. Ms Charlotte.

Charlotte

I actually took this polaroid last Friday. Yay I get to see her AGAIN. Who is she? She’s my second cousin. Her mom is my first cousin. And her grandma is my Aunt. She’s a little ham and I love being around her. I’m actually going to be spending the night, because on Saturday I’ll be babysitting, while her parents go to the dentist. I am praying the weather is nice. I wouldn’t mind going to the park, and maybe taking some more polaroids. What are you guys up to this weekend?

16 May I’m not a huge fan of reality TV. But I sometimes enjoy these sort of contest shows. Sometimes.

Welp

This might be my first official blog entry. It’s just starring at me in the face. What to write about? What is this blog going to look like in two weeks? Will I even keep up with it? Ahhhh too many questions. I don’t even know yet. The future is bleak. Who’s going to read it? Will people I know read it? That’s scary to think about. If you can’t tell already, my tone is somewhat serious, and sarcastic. My mind is already starting to draw blanks. Booo. I really don’t want to start off with an introduction. For now I’ll just say that I am pretty much smitten with the Brits.

I’ve already watched the whole series of “The IT Crowd”. And now I find myself re-watching it. It’s only about 4 seasons. But each season, just got funnier and funnier. Also watching it makes me miss “Doctor Who”. So, I might re-watch that again. Quite frankly, there aren’t any shows on TV that I’m watching. I was somewhat watching “Castle” on and off, and “Bones”. I mostly watch tv shows from netflix, hulu, or amazon. So yes, the brits. I ended up watching some bloopers on YouTube, and finding other British shows. They say that the Brits are cold when it comes to their emotions. But I do love their cheekiness. And gotta love the accents too.

Alright, so we got something to post now. Covered tv shows, brits, and maybe how lame my life can be? Just kidding. Sort of. I have nothing else begging to be written. So how’s about I leave you with a nice polaroid picture I took last week? Yea!

Chicago

If you haven’t already noticed my tagline…I’m FROM CHICAGO. So here’s a view from my friends apartment balcony on the goldcoast.

Are you guys watching anything awesome, that I should I be watching too?
